Monica Tookes is a well-renowned artist who has created one of a kind works for over 16 years. With strong roots in Biloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana, respectively, Monica employs a wealth of rich artistic elements in the exploration of cultural expression. Inspired by her love for music, she started Monica Tookes Live! After painting live on stage for many years, with some of the most amazing musicians and artists, Monica Tookes realized her prowess to pound paint on canvas with her brushes were much like musicians’ use of their instruments to sculpt sound into music. While audiences watched in awe, Tookes realized she was filling a niche that had yet to be touched in such a specific way. Monica has been able to captivate her audience during live performance paintings alongside some of the most recognized musical talent in the world, such as Janelle Monae, Ken Ford, Ryan Kilgore, Raheem Devaughn, Kebbi Williams, and the infamous Najee, just to name a few.
